Places of worship have been around for a long time. Exodus 26 speaks of the building of a tabernacle, or a tent for worship. Though scholars disagree on the exact date, most place the construction of the tabernacle somewhere between 1400 and 1100 BCE.
However, these days our places of worship are called churches instead of tabernacles, and instead of stone tablets, we write things on signs and church banners.
In addition to being easier to make, church banners and signs offer a lot of other benefits. We’ll talk about some of them in the paragraphs below.
1. They Convey a Message
Most of us would probably agree that religion is all about message. You can go to church every day and twice on Sundays, but it won’t do much good if you refuse to learn why you’re going there or what kind of life you should be leading.
One way to communicate that message, or at least a part of it, is using a banner. You could write a bible verse on a banner, or just share a few words of wisdom.
You can even focus on virtues and which ones your congregants should strive to have. Do you want to talk about honesty this week? What about humility, or tolerance?
It can even spread the message that your church is open and accepting members, even during challenging times that require so many to stay at home. Matthew 18:20 says “For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them.”
Your church can never be too small. It also cannot be too large. God loves us all, so all of us are always welcome.
The key is to continue to share and stay connected, and the means in which we do that may or may not always be in person.
There are a lot more virtual services going online, and some are performing services outdoors while respecting social-distancing as a result of shelter-in-place orders happening across the United States.
Banners and signs continue to be valuable tools for your church both online and offline, as they can be used in traditional and non-traditional ways to communicate your message.
2. They Enhance the Atmosphere
God may not be one for pomp and circumstance, but He’d probably still appreciate the effort. Making a place more spiritual, friendly, and welcoming is always a good idea for a church.
Anything that will help people connect with God and their faith more is worth it. Too often, we’ve heard people express that church is boring, but that doesn’t have to be the case.
There’s no problem with making church beautiful and fun as long as we’re still worshipping.
3. Advertise an Event
Most churches host events, be it for holidays or simply to gather the community together. They can sometimes even attract new members to the church.
For any successful event to take place, people have to be made aware of it.
Traditional church banners that are hung outdoors can help get the message out there.
Or you may have the banner positioned behind a speaker during a video sermon online.
You can even have your congregation help design the seasonal church banner as a way to bring them together.
